Get in touch with Skin IQ if you are not sure whether HIFU is right for you. We can advise you over the phone, or see you in person for a free consultation at our private clinic in Cradley Heath (near Birmingham). We strive to give our best advice and never pressure you into booking any treatments.
How does HIFU work?
We first cleanse the area to be treated and may apply anesthetic cream.
Moving on to the next stage, we apply the ultrasound gel and start using the HIFU device to work on your desired area.
Countless ultrasound waves cause the target layer of your skin (SMAS) to heat up and shrink. You may feel tingling along with a heat sensation. Some of our clients say that it’s quite a satisfying feeling, knowing that their skin is tightening during this process.
You can target specific areas such as jawline, neck, around your eyes, or have them all covered in one session.
Side effects of HIFU
During the treatment our clients experience some discomfort, like tiny electrical pulses. Some areas are less painful than others (it can feel quite sore at the Jaw area) but as soon as the session is over, your skin will start to relax. There are no long term side effects or pain.
Right after your session. some redness and swelling is normal and that should slowly go away within a few hours. In some cases your skin may feel quite tender.
How often do I need the sessions?
Unlike a surgical lift, HIFU is not permanent. For people with mild to moderate skin laxity, HIFU treatments should be repeated every 1-2 years.
For someone with more advanced skin sagging, HIFU may not work as well. If that is the case, then we can advise you on the best course of action.
